Galata Jewish Cultural Heritage Tours organized by the Quincentennial Foundation Museum of Turkish Jews with Mois Gabay as tour guide continue to attract great interest in November.
To sign up for the tour one should register, beforehand since the tour has limited participant quota. Until now, the tours have been overbooked. The tour begins at Kuledibi where participants meet in the morning. They all receive Salom newspapers, headsets and the tour brochures. The goal of the tour is for the participants to learn about Jewish culture and heritage while exploring Galata and its surroundings. Following Mois Gabay’s introductory presentation, the participants visit Ashkenazi Synagogue, Neve Salom Synagogue, the Quincentennial Foundation Museum of Turkish Jews, Schneidertemple Art Center, Habib Gerez Art House and Italian Synagogue, respectively.
The tour on November 6th included a surprise venue, Or-Yom, where participants enjoyed delicious treats. At Or-Yom, Head of Volunteer Women organization Ms. Toni Bicaci gave information about volunteer work and charity institutions within Turkish Jewish Community. The participants also got the chance to meet some of the seniors staying at Or-Yom.
European Day of Jewish Culture which will be organized this year on November 27th at Galata is also expected to include the Museum’s Galata Jewish Cultural Heritage Tour.
